About

Julie is a degreed Landscape Designer and Horticulturalist from the University of Delaware, with a background focusing on functionality and sustainability within the landscape and focus on human geography. Julie started Browning Design Group LLC, (BDG) in 2006 as a landscape design and build firm, working with selected clients to create beautiful and functional outdoor spaces. During the off-season, she would move her talents to the interior of clients homes and work with them to provide space organization, holiday decorating and decluttering services. The theories of spatial organization and flow hold the same traits for both interiors and exteriors, using colors, textures, rhythms and functionalities as the key principles to design.

Julie has worked with several major design firms in the Virginia/D.C. Metro area as a Landscape Designer and Project Manager; designing and implementing projects of all sizes. She has won awards with her thoughtful designs and creative solutions in both residential and commercial spaces.

In April 2016, Julie decided to add a level of service to BDG and opened up her portfolio to include working with clients on the interior of their homes year round, rather than only during the winter months. Helping a client to de-clutter and organize a living space or helping to stage their home for a pending sale, has been a wonderful addition to Julie’s professional offerings.

In 2022 Julie moved to Western North Carolina and her business has flourished in the mountains. One area of expansion has been the ability to work with individuals and property management companies in the care of vacation homes and rentals. If you are a Realtor or Property Manager please take a few minutes to review the Realtor page for areas of expertise where Julie is able to help make your job easier.

With a background that includes teaching Landscape Design principles at Northern Virginia Community College and guest speaking for Garden Club circuits and television experiences, Julie is available for lectures and talks on a wide range of topics to include:
