Home Love! (Don’t wait until you move to fix up your home).

I’ve had many friends and co-workers tell me over the years, that as they were getting their home ready to sell they decided to repaint the family room, fix the bannister on the outdoor stairs, rehang the closet door in the master bedroom; the list goes on…and then they usually follow up by saying “Now that the home is fixed and repaired, we don’t want to move!” They love coming home to a fresh, working home!

Why do we live with the quirks and items in need of repair for so long? What is it about our personalities that says we shouldn’t spend the money or time on a repair for ourselves to enjoy, but we catalog it for “when we sell the home”, then we will do it?

We’ve recently consulted and staged several homes that have needed minor repair and paint jobs prior to putting the home on the market. For each of the tasked items, the home owners have found the time and the money to complete these items. The home looks good and functions well- it’s bright! It’s inviting! and did I say…it functions well?! The homes become these fun places to live again and are inviting to come home to.

I’m going to start a movement within the industry to REPAIR EARLY! Don’t wait until it’s time to sell! Do it for yourself…I think I will brand it as Home Love. ❤  Contractors are available and are reasonably priced during this market season. Take advantage of a local community forum to find a qualified handy(wo)man to assist with repairs if you are unable to complete the tasks yourself. Think about staying on top of repairs and tasks now, so that when you do move, the list of to-do’s is only a couple items deep, not the proverbial dead sea scroll list that some clients are hit with. Your home will love you for it! 😉

Give us a call and we can get started on the little things and while we are at it, we can knock out the big things too!
